I love plants, people and nature. It is my mission to create beautiful, useful spaces where people, plants and planet can be nurtured.

I grew up in Montana against a backdrop of astounding beauty. I lived my [non snow] days barefoot in the garden. It could have been my mother’s garden at our home, my maternal grandmother’s garden where her famous dahlias and geraniums cheered, or my paternal grandmother’s award winning acre-large garden. Gardens and their many contributions to my well-being were a constant. It was from these women, this long lineage of botanical caretakers, that I gained the vast majority of my knowledge and understanding of plants, gardens, landscapes and nature at large.

After studying French and Women’s Studies at Montana State University and Idaho State University, I waited tables, tended bar, and sold my handmade bags. After moving to DC, I enrolled in a Garden Design Certification course. It was immediately clear to me that this path was indeed the correct one for me.

Creating those first few gardens for friends and neighbors lit me up in a way hard to put into words. The first time a paying client told me the whole family now sits outside in the morning with coffee and the newspaper, enjoying the sanctuary around them, I cried with the joy of a fulfilled vision.

As I walk through the process of my work with my clients, I pass through many phases and wear many hats. None is more important to me than that of vision holder. I hold firmly to the belief that designing gardens while holding the broader environment and watershed in mind is a benefit to all. To our collective well-being.

Outside of my work, I spend my time mothering, reading, watching stand-up specials, exploring nature and doing my best to connect with the great mystery that connects us all.
